Transitioning Out of CP-Achieve – ACU Occupational Therapy Students discuss Transition Project
Presented by Blake Greuter and Kyla Tucker
Australian Catholic University (ACU) Occupational Therapy Students, Kyla Tucker and Blake Greuter, will discuss their project focusing on transitioning out of research projects such as CP-Achieve.
Kyla and Blake will talk about their literature review, findings when consulting with consumers of CP-Achieve and the transitional process recommended for a smooth and easy transition for consumers. The Project took place 1-3 times a week for 10 weeks, with Students working closely with CP-Achieve’s Transition Advisory Group including Carolyn Pinto and Margaret Wallen and the Consumers of CP-Achieve’s groups.
Blake Greuter is in his 4th year of study at ACU as an Occupational Therapist. He was inspired to become an Occupational Therapist after working as a swimming instructor for children with disabilities and working closely with many families over 4 years. His passion to learn from and help others has been a key attribute during his degree and has assisted him when completing student placements in settings such as Mental Health, Pediatrics, and Community. Blake is passionate about working with consumers with neuromuscular conditions and is eager to work in a field that allows him to develop his skills in equipment prescription and improving accessibility to allow people to fulfill their daily occupations. Blake loves staying active and swimming with his friends at the local pool and catching up with family regularly. If he’s not out and about, he is chilling at home with his 2 dogs (Pippa and Kenzo) and cat (Nala).
Kyla Tucker is in her 4th Year of Study at ACU as an Occupational Therapist. She was inspired to become an Occupational Therapist after being a consumer herself combined with her love of helping others. She has had a range of experience so far in her studies including Mental Health, Pediatrics, Community, Older Adults and Rehabilitation. Kyla does not yet know what field she wants to work in upon graduating but just wants to help others in whatever way possible. Kyla loves being creative, including Crocheting and Art. She also reads and explores the outdoors in her spare time. But above all- she loves her two dogs (Marley and Koda), two bunny rabbits (Tito and Toto) and her family.
